The test solution combines the latest generation of the R&S CMX500 broadband radio tester with HEAD acoustics' labCORE hardware platform and its ACQUA measurement and analysis software. This configuration allows the simulation of a voice connection in 5G (VoNR) and 4G (VoLTE) networks that makes it easier for manufacturers of 5G-capable telecommunication devices to test the voice quality of their devices in the initial stages before taking them out to the public. market. Rohde & Schwarz's test solution is based on the proven R&S CMW500 broadband radio tester for 2G/3G/LTE and WLAN. The scope of testing for 5G NR can be further advanced with the R&S CMX500 radio tester, allowing 5G NR devices to be tested in standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) TDD and FDD mode. The R&S CMX500 accepts the frequency bands below six GHz (FR1) and the millimeter wave bands (FR2). It provides all the necessary technologies for VoLTE and VoNR calls in both corporation and NSA mode.
The mobile phones under test can be registered with the integrated IMS server (IP multimedia subsystem) of the R&S CMX500 platform via the 4G or 5G mobile network, depending on the use case. The labCORE system connects over wired Ethernet using the IMS server's built-in IP forwarding seamless mode, uniquely developed for this use case. This allows users to directly forward voice data from a call established with the R&S CMX500 to the labCORE system for detailed voice quality analysis. In this mode, the system fully accepts the 5G EVS (enhanced voice service) AMR-WB and AMR-NB voice codecs. With this test suite of ACQUA measurement and analysis software developed by HEAD acoustics for TS 5-5, the system fully covers each and every essential acoustic requirement.
