Phoenix Contact E-Mobility starts production at its new location in Rzeszów, Poland

(01/21) Construction of Phoenix Contact E-Mobility's new 15,000 m² facility in Rzeszów, Poland, has been completed after just five months of work and production of AC charging cables has already begun.

Despite the difficult circumstances related to the coronavirus pandemic, the facilities were delivered at the end of December, as planned. This allowed the production of the award-winning AC charging cables to begin in early January, perfectly in line with the constant increase in demand for electric mobility products. In 2020, almost 200.000 new 100% electric vehicles were registered in Germany. If plug-in hybrids are added to this figure, the total number of new registrations rose to almost 400.000 vehicles. “Each of these vehicles comes with an AC charging cable in its trunk,” said Christoph Paetzold, project manager for the new Rzeszów facility.

“In addition, rebates and subsidies are turning the expansion of home charging infrastructure into a regular boom across Europe. These measures further increase the sales of AC charging cables. It goes without saying that we are very pleased to have completed the construction of Rzeszów in record time, thanks to an excellent collaboration with Panattoni and the local government, which put us in a position to start work right after the New Year. The team has already produced the first batch of our AC charging cables. We are preparing to install more systems in the coming weeks and to hire more employees. Thanks to its excellent location in the Dworzysko Science and Technology Park and its developed infrastructure, our facility is expected to become an important hub of the Phoenix Contact E-Mobility production network. Simultaneously, other investments are being made to expand the production capacity at the German headquarters.”

The new facility in Rzeszów has a total area of 15.000 m², which is divided into 14.000 m² for production and storage and 1.000 m² for offices. The headcount is expected to increase to more than 250 employees in the coming years.
