Würth Elektronik presents MEMS humidity sensor

Würth Elektronik launches a very compact and economical digital humidity sensor in the WSEN-HIDS series. The MEMS (microelectromechanical system) sensor performs measurements with an accuracy of ±1,8% rH over a range of 20 to 80% relative humidity. The DFN (Dual Flat No Leads) package in SMD mounting measures only 1,5 x 1,5 x 0,5 mm. The sensor operates with a current of only 0,4 µA and a supply voltage of 1,08 to 3,6 V. It is therefore well suited for distributed IoT sensor networks, for example in agricultural applications. intelligent.

Würth Elektronik's humidity sensor uses a dielectric polymer that interacts with water molecules and adjusts the permeability of a capacitor structure based on the relative humidity of the air in the environment. It also incorporates a temperature sensor. Thanks to the integrated analog-digital converter, both current temperature and humidity information can be transmitted directly to standard microcontrollers as 16-bit measured values via an I²C interface. The sensor includes a heater with three selectable heating levels that can be activated temporarily if necessary, so that the sensor works effectively even in unfavorable ambient conditions and the measurement is not distorted by condensation.

The Würth Elektronik humidity sensor can be used in a wide range of applications, from air conditioning technology to data loggers in the food industry, via smart buildings, vertical farming and other applications requiring precise humidity control. environmental conditions. It is now available in stock in any quantity. To facilitate rapid prototyping, the sensor is part of the Sensor FeatherWing and the IoT-Development Kit from Würth Elektronik.
