Microchip announces the TimePictra® 12 platform to improve synchronization management in critical infrastructures

TimePictra

This next-generation software platform helps operators manage HA-TT (High-Accuracy Time Transfer), detects GNSS threats and synchronizes scattered clocks with nanosecond accuracy

Microchip Technology today announced its TimePictra platform® 12A major update to its timing management software has been released, designed to help infrastructure operators manage advanced timing architectures with greater visibility, automation, and control. The new version provides a redesigned graphical user interface (GUI), enhanced automation capabilities, and improved support for the latest high-accuracy timing technologies.

The continuous evolution of telecommunications, power, transportation, data center, and other critical networks compels operators to implement increasingly sophisticated synchronization architectures to improve resilience, reduce dependence on GNSS, and maintain precise clock synchronization in distributed environments. The TimePictra 12 platform meets these requirements by offering enhanced performance for managing HA-TT (High-Accuracy Time Transfer) connections and monitoring GNSS data using BlueSky technology. Microchip and maintain watch synchronization with SkyWire technology.

The platform is also designed to enhance GNSS visibility and resilience through monitoring provided by BlueSky technology. By enabling centralized monitoring of GNSS data, the TimePictra 12 platform helps operators better understand GNSS conditions, identify anomalies, and manage timing infrastructure in environments where GNSS availability, integrity, and security are paramount.

In addition, the TimePictra 12 platform allows clocks to be synchronized via SkyWire technology, helping operators to ensure accurate synchronization across network elements. This capability is especially important as networks become increasingly distributed, automated, and reliant on precise phase and frequency synchronization.

“Operators are looking for more than basic timing monitoring; they need tools that help them confidently manage advanced timing architectures,” said Randy Brudzinski, corporate vice president of Microchip’s Timing and Frequency Systems business unit. “The TimePictra 12 platform enables Microchip to offer customers the ability to manage HA-TT connections, receive GNSS signals, and synchronize dispersed clocks from a centralized platform designed for next-generation critical infrastructure networks.”

The TimePictra 12 software suite revitalizes the user experience to simplify operators' interaction with large mesh synchronization environments. The new GUI facilitates the visualization of network interconnections and the identification of problems, while also streamlining management at all times. This helps reduce the operational burden in sectors such as electricity, telecommunications, data centers, transportation, and AI infrastructure, as well as other sectors that rely on synchronization.

The software is designed to accelerate network deployment, updates, and configuration for maximum ease of implementation. The TimePictra 12 platform supports up to 5.000 items, more than double the capacity of previous versions, providing greater capacity for large-scale synchronization deployment.

The TimePictra 12 platform supports numerous Microchip synchronization products, including TimeProvider server clocks.® 4100, 4500 and 5000, as well as the SSU-2000 and TimeCesium products® 4400 and 5071, and the BlueSky GNSS Firewall. It allows centralized monitoring, configuration, and management of these devices for critical infrastructure networks such as 5G, power grids, transportation, electrical substations, AI, and data centers.

Device compatibility may depend on software versions and licenses, so it is recommended to consult the official product documentation. For more information about Microchip's timing and synchronization solutions, please visit the website.
