Kioxia presents its new optical SSD memories at Electronica 2024

In 2024, Alex Störmann, Marketing Director at Kioxia, gave an interview to Revista Española de Electrónica during the Electronica 2024 fair held in Munich in which he highlighted the importance of flash memory in modern electronics. He underlined how Kioxia's storage solutions are driving innovations in various sectors, from mobile devices to data centers. Störmann also spoke about emerging trends in the industry and how Kioxia is positioning itself to lead in an ever-evolving market.

As the star announcement of the show, Kioxia presented the new high-bandwidth SSD memory with optical interface in prototype form. This new memory aims to optimize cabling, especially in data centers, speeding up access and allowing a considerable expansion of the physical distances between devices.

The evolution of flash memory is having a significant impact on data centers, driving improvements in performance, energy efficiency and storage capacity.

Alex Störmann highlighted that Kioxia's flash-based SSDs, especially those using NVMe interfaces and technologies such as PCIe 5.0 and CXL, offer data access and transfer speeds far superior to traditional hard drives (HDD), achieving higher access speeds with very low latency.

The future of Kioxia is bright and an increase in performance, scalability, and adaptation of new storage technologies to the new challenge of Artificial Intelligence systems is expected, which will require key specifications for their correct development.
