Rohde & Schwarz presents the first oscilloscope on the market with 10-bit vertical resolution and touch screen

El Oscilloscope It is the key tool used by engineers, technicians and engineering students to check electronic devices, since it allows observing and measuring electronic signals.
On the occasion of Embedded world 2017, Rohde & Schwarz presented the new oscilloscope R&S RTB2000, specially designed for education, R&D and production. With a price starting at €1.250, this device offers functions until now only available on oscilloscopes higher range and price.
Rohde & Schwarz expands its family of oscilloscopes with the New R&S RTB2000, the first oscilloscope “low cost” that offers a touch screen and a vertical resolution of 10 bit. “Rohde & Schwarz engineers like a challenge and seek to apply cutting-edge technology to customer needs,” says Joerg Fries, Vice President of the Oscilloscope line at Rohde & Schwarz. “We gave our team an additional challenge: ensuring R&S quality at an extremely competitive price. The result will surprise users, who will get the highest quality with a limited budget.”
10-bit vertical resolution
Oscilloscopes measure voltage versus time. The analog-to-digital converter (ADC) determines whether the oscilloscope can resolve the amplitude of the measured signals. For the past three decades, oscilloscopes have offered 8-bit vertical resolution, allowing the signal to be mapped to one of 256 vertical positions. The R&S RTB2000 features an R&S 10-bit ADC with 1024 vertical positions, four times the resolution of any other oscilloscope from his class. Its higher resolution allows users to make much more precise measurements and is very useful for detecting small signals in the presence of large amplitude signals.
10 Msample memory
After bandwidth and sample rate, memory capacity is the most important characteristic that defines an oscilloscope's ability to handle 10 Msamples per channel and 20 Msamples per channel acquisition memory in interleaved mode.
This means a memory 10 times greater than that of the best existing equipment. Users benefit from longer captures to measure and detect faults, allowing for more detailed testing of electronic devices. In addition, it is possible to expand up to 160 Samples of segmented memory.
10.1” capacitive touch screen
The R&S RTB2000 has an impressive 10.1” capacitive touchscreen. Oscilloscope users spend a lot of time looking at the computer screen. The display of the R&S RTB2000 series oscilloscopes is twice the size of that of oscilloscopes similar and offers up to 10 times more pixels and a greater visualization of the signals under test.
The capacitive screen is becoming an increasingly important accessory for users, since it allows to operate the equipment faster and more efficiently. Thanks to the R&S RTB2000, for the first time, users with limited budgets will have access not only to a touch screen but to a larger, capacitive screen.
The R&S RTB2000 is available in two- and four-channel models and offers bandwidths of 70 MHz, 100 MHz, 200 MHz, and 300 MHz. The base price is EUR 1,250 for the 2-channel, 70 MHz model.
There are several upgrade options to expand the capabilities of the equipment, such as the option of 16 integrated digital channels, the option of MSO signals, the option of decoding protocols, triggering, generator of arbitrary functions, etc.
