New Credit Card-Sized Mini PLCs for Industrial Applications Available at RS

Six models and two Barth Elektronik starter kits are added to the range

RS Components (RS), the trademark of Electrocomponents plc (LSE:ECM), the leading global distributor for engineers, has expanded its available Barth-brand range with six new credit card-sized PLCs and two kits of initiation.

These Barth programmable logic controllers are targeted at panel and machine builders. Now they open the door to the possibility of controlling new types of industrial applications.

They can be battery-powered and allow engineers to control small applications, such as stand-alone machines or mobile apps. In addition, PLCs can be directly integrated into machines, helping to reduce wiring.

The first device presented within this range is the STG-65. It is a freely programmable mini PLC that includes a high voltage power output to control AC loads up to 4 A, a 0-10 V input and two universal inputs; These features make it the ideal PLC for use as a direct AC drive for temperature control applications.

The second device is the STG-95, which has a blue backlit two-line LCD display and a mounting depth of just 15mm; it is designed for panel mount applications that require an IP40 degree of protection.

The third is the STG-100, which is the splash resistant outdoor version. This device also has a two-line LCD display and can be used for applications where IP65 protection is required on the front panel. Both devices can be programmed through BASIC, C, or assembly languages.

The fourth device is the panel-mount STG-115, which also includes a two-line backlit LCD display, but can be programmed via the intuitive miCon-L graphical software, which is free to download from the MiCon-L website. Bath.

Building on the well-established STG-600 and STG-500 PLCs, RS has also added two mini PLCs, the STG-650 and STG-550, which offer graphical programming and communication capabilities via the CAN bus. The RS-485 port allows the integration of the mini PLCs into existing networks and also the connection to various network components, such as displays, stepper motors or sensors, as well as other monitoring devices.

The STG-550 and STG-650 require no peripheral components for operation and are suitable for harsh environments, opening the door to a wide variety of automotive and industrial applications, as well as 12/24V battery-powered applications. .

Finally, the new STA-650 and STA-550 Starter Kits provide a complete package to allow a quick introduction to graphical programming.
