New software that simplifies data logging from NI CompactDAQ hardware for structural testing and monitoring applications

National Instruments (Nasdaq: NATI) today announced Chameleon for NI CompactDAQ, a software package developed by PVI Systems, NI Gold Alliance Partner, and available in LabVIEW Tools Network to create turnkey systems of NI data acquisition hardware that are simple and intuitive to set up and get running. These scalable systems can span a large number of channels and still be managed within a configuration-based environment, without programming.

Combining Chameleon and the platform NI CompactDAQ It is ideal for a variety of structural test and control applications, including pressure and stress measurements for aircraft engine testing, strain acquisition in structural vehicle impact testing, and vibration measurements of marine and aircraft structures. Chameleon has a strong track record of success in military accounts, such as Northrop Grumman Corporation y Raytheon BBN Technologies.

«By using turnkey software Chameleon, based LabVIEW y DAQ, more than 32 channels of pressure data from our sensors can be measured, and expandable, while keeping the data in sync over time through transient events,” said Jeff Mazurek, director of engineering at sales of Raytheon BBN.

Features Chameleon

  • Support for voltage, IEPE, temperature, bridge and current sensors
  • Data visualization with multiple traces and graphs, using pre-recorded or live data
  • Data stored locally in TDMS format for easy integration with LabVIEW o NI DIAdem
  • Channels calculated with alarms on virtual or real channels.
  • On-the-fly update of virtual channel equations and data logging speed.
  • Personalization and integration with LabVIEW for greater flexibility.
