Excellent customer response to RECOM's CEM service provision
RECOM has a perfectly equipped CEM laboratory in its recently inaugurated new headquarters that can also be used by clients and universities to solve CEM problems in their own applications. In the meantime, the first projects have already been successfully completed.
Among others, the application of a large international manufacturer of hydraulic pumps was modified to overcome all barriers on the way to certification. The customer developer had turned to RECOM because he suspected that the DC/DC converter might cause EMC problems.
First of all, it was possible to reproduce the results determined by the TÜV in a reference measurement carried out in the 3m-SAR camera. The customer then used the laboratory specially set up for external users to develop their solutions, in close collaboration with RECOM experts. Among others, a ribbon cable could be detected as a source of problems. With the help of ferrites the noise level could be reduced to the required value. In addition, weaknesses in the cabling were detected and eliminated by converting to the 4-layer design. The client is currently working on a suitable redesign of the board.
In other cases, problems in customer applications could be resolved without the need for the customer to be present. Some problems could be eliminated simply thanks to the experience of the team, with a remote diagnosis. Like e.g. eg in an application in which the customer had given up connecting the unused terminals of the converter.
In the future, we want to further expand the support activities related to the EMC topic and support customers even before certification, with assistance and advice. But also universities and colleges are always welcome, since they frequently lack the appropriate measurement technology. RECOM not only provides the necessary jobs, but also accommodation for visitors from other parts.
