Agilent Technologies Introduces the World's Fastest and Highest Performing 27 GHz PXIe Vector Signal Analyzer

Agilent Technologies Inc. has announced the release of the high-performance PXIe M9393A vector signal analyzer (VSA), offering speed and accuracy never before seen in modular instruments, up to 27 GHz.

The M9393A incorporates Agilent's proven microwave measurement technology in a PXI form factor for design validation and manufacturing of radar, military, satellite, and commercial mobile communications device components and transmitters.

The innovative design of the M9393A gives engineers the ability to validate the true performance of legacy and next-generation devices with frequency coverage from 9 kHz to 27 GHz and an analysis bandwidth of 160 MHz. Excellent performance (including ±0,15 dB absolute amplitude accuracy, -160 dBm Average Display Noise Level (DANL) with preamplifier and +30 dBm Third Order Intermodulation (TOI),) the M9393A offers frequency switching in less than 150 microseconds, greatly reducing test time to increase performance.

“The introduction of the M9393A is the culmination of close collaboration between our customers and our development teams to create revolutionary microwave signal analysis,” said Mark Pierpoint, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Modular Solutions Division. “In addition to offering system-ready single and multi-channel measurement capability in a small instrument footprint, the PXI form factor provides unprecedented speed and confidence in measurement results that is only available on Agilent's industry-proven, industry-proven measurement science."

The M9393A takes advantage of Agilent's acclaimed X-Series measurement applications and its 89600 VSA software, which offers broad programming compatibility with Agilent benchtop signal analyzers to maximize test code reuse. It enables consistently accurate results across all instrument form factors and throughout the product life cycle. The new step spectrum capability of the VSA 89600 software enables the M9393A to measure across 27 GHz in less than 1 second, with a resolution bandwidth of 10 kHz, for fast measurements of harmonics and spurious. X-Series test apps for modular instruments can be used with the M9393A to simplify device specification compliance testing for LTE, WLAN, and many other protocols. Beyond the flexibility and scalability of PXI, the M9393A has been designed with expandability in mind. With license key upgradeable options for frequency, analysis bandwidth, preamplifiers, and memory, engineers can easily adapt to changing test needs with quick system upgrades. As new hardware advancements occur, thanks to the M9393A's truly modular architecture, simply upgrading or replacing a single module is all it takes to maximize reuse of existing equipment and dramatically reduce test costs. Agilent's new M9037A PXI integrated controller enables increased speed of the M9393A's measurement capabilities. The M9037A is a high-performance computer designed for complex or multi-chassis systems and secure environments that incorporates a 2,4 GHz quad-core processor with data bandwidth of up to 12 GB/s. The high-speed CPU is based on the Intel i7 4700EQ processor and provides the advantage of high computing speeds, such as those needed for power and error vector magnitude (EVM) measurements, speeding up testing and increasing performance .
