The engineering and technology group SENER and its joint venture with Masdar, Torresol Energy, a company that promotes the technological development, construction, operation and maintenance of large concentrated solar power plants around the world, will attend one more year to the international fair for renewable and future energy, World Future Energy Summit, which will take place between January 15 and 17 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Both companies, leaders in the solar thermal energy sector due to the development and application of innovative technologies, will share a stand and present the progress of their projects at this fair, after a year marked by the entry into commercial operation of the Valle 1 and Valle 2 in Cádiz (southern Spain) and due to the expected operation of the Gemasolar plant (Seville, southern Spain). SENER, a leader in the sector both for its technological solutions and for the number of CSP plants in which it has participated as an engineering and construction company, will bring its latest technological advances to the fair: HECTOR cleaning systems, for plants with heliostats and PARIS, for parabolic trough collector plants. Likewise, SENER will show the improvements made to its SENERtrough® parabolic trough collector system with the presentation of its second generation, SENERtrough® 2.
For its part, Torresol Energy will show its knowledge in the operation and maintenance of solar plants, after the experience acquired in Gemasolar, the first plant in the world with tower technology and a molten salt storage system, and in Valle 1 and Valle 2, two twin parabolic trough collector plants, one year after commissioning in January.
In 2012, in addition to achieving the grid supply capacity milestone, both Torresol Energy and SENER have been recognized at various awards: in May, SENER was a finalist for Gemasolar in the prestigious European Environmental Awards European Section, after having won previously with the awards in the Basque and Spanish Sections; In June, Torresol Energy was nominated for the US CSP Today 2012 awards by Gemasolar, as the best dispatchability solution and, in November, Torresol Energy won the CSP Today Sevilla 2012 final award, in the manageability improvement category. .
