VCB_SBO-xxWR3 series models offer higher power density in industrial control, instrumentation and communications systems

Avnet Abacus announces series availability VCB_SBO-xxWR3 of high power density DC-DC converters in 1/16 format brick de Mornsun, which aims to support high-speed developments in 5G projects.

The VCB_SBO-xxWR3 models, which can be powered by 50, 75 and 100 W, offer a reliable and affordable solution with a stable supply chain, through AVNET Abacus, and a large manufacturing capacity (with thirty-four SMT production lines).

This series may incorporate two additional functions according to application needs. Units VCB_SBO-xxWR3, marked «F» include a heat dissipator, while those marked «N» address systems negative logic.

The news adopts frequency conversion technologies and active clamp and, consequently, contribute to increasing conversion efficiency at any load. The average efficiency is above 90 percent in the POL of 10, 25, 50 and 100 percent.

In practice, the ambient temperature usually oscillates between -40 and +70℃ and is higher inside devices because power supplies and some components can get hot. In this case, only a source with a wider temperature range can exceed the current requirements. For this reason, Mornsun VCB_SBO-R3 series can perform with a temperature -40 to +85℃ (up to +50°C at full charge) and simplify the thermal design of the entire system.

Under high efficiency conditions, its loss is minimal, as is heat generation, which translates into reliability and increased useful life. Additionally, these models benefit from frequency reduction technology and no-load consumption drops to 0,48 W, allowing also to reduce waiting consumption (standby) of the complete system.

VCB_SBO-R3 units in 1/16 package brick meet the standards IEC/UL/EN62368 and DOSA, and CISPR32/EN55032 Class A (EMI) and facilitate the replacement of products with the same format (without PCB redesigns).

In addition, the circuit has functions of protección against input voltage drop, overvoltage, output overload and short circuit to deal with any condition and ensure reliability.

The casing (conformal coating), for its part, is ideal in adverse environments with the “presence” of humidity, dust or corrosion.

Therefore, the VCB_SBO-R3 series can be used in industrial control, electrical power, instrumentation and communications.
