With 12 bits and 2 GS/s: The new DHO1000 series of oscilloscopes from RIGOL

The DHO1000 series stands out for its extraordinary quality with 12 bits and the best price/performance ratio.

New self-developed ASIC circuit set makes a difference

RIGOL Technologies EU GmbH has integrated two new self-developed Centaurus ASIC chips into the new 1000-bit DHO12 series. This series adds to its very high quality an extraordinary price/performance ratio and offers various functions to the user such as the Ultra Acquire Mode. With these high-resolution digital oscilloscopes, a professional and economical solution comes to the market that does not compromise on anything.

The DHO1000 series has a sample rate of 2 GS/s and is supplied as a 2 or 4 channel solution with bandwidths of 70, 100 and 200 MHz. The maximum memory depth is 100 mpts. The minimum vertical adjustment is 500 µV/DIV for the DHO1000 series, so even small signals can be measured.

The two new ASICs achieve a very low noise level of 50 µVrms for the DHO1000 series. Like other RIGOL oscilloscopes, the goal has been to combine high sampling rate, deep memory, and very high measurement speed. Even the smallest deviations in amplitude can be measured thanks to the 12-bit vertical resolution. A high resolution mode of up to 16 bits can also be activated. This means that to the high resolutions, both horizontal and vertical, a very deep memory is added, thus enhancing the analysis capacity.

Among its main applications is analysis, for example to measure switching performance in a power environment, automated tests in factories, analysis of serial bus protocols in vehicle electronics, measurements in electronic circuits and development applications, among many.

With Ultra Acquire, RIGOL has integrated a new type of analysis that achieves a very high trigger speed of 1.500 billion waveforms/s. This allows very fast, sporadic or short-lived phenomena to be easily measured and displayed in different modes (eg persistence, mosaic or overlay) to optimally display unwanted signal components. Ultra Acquire can also be linked to logging, analysis, and navigation functions to view signal components for detailed analysis.

These devices incorporate a large HD color touch screen (10,1”) and 1024×800 with 256 levels of intensity and color tones for a precise and clear visualization of the signal. They can also be connected to an external touch monitor via HDMI and USB from which it can be operated. Thanks to its powerful web control screen (which includes screenshots, video, SCPI panel, etc.) and the connection to an FTP server, this series can be operated completely remotely without the need to install another driver. It is therefore ideal for teaching applications and for use in universities.

Various trigger, math, and display functions are available (1 million point FFT, mask test, and power analysis), as well as a built-in signal search function in addition to the usual serial bus protocol analysis and Shooting. The integrated voltmeter and frequency counter round off the complete range of measurements. It also has various interfaces, such as USB host, USB device, HDMI, LAN (10/100/1000Base-T) and AUX OUT.

It also has a large number of accessories, such as active and passive probes, high voltage probes (differential/single termination), current clamps (up to 500 A), a 19” installation chassis and drivers for the most popular software packages. .

The hardware incorporates photoelectric encoders to facilitate its handling, with a very low abrasion and therefore a very long useful life.

As a special feature, Rigol offers numerous extensions, such as higher bandwidths or memory expansion via software update. The equipment includes triggering and serial decoding (SPI, I2C, RS232/UART, CAN and LIN).

As always, Rigol offers these fully featured oscilloscopes at the best price/performance ratio. Rigol's well-known 3-year warranty completes the offer for all users.
