Aratas Corporation, headquartered in Kyoto, Japan, commenced operations today under a new management structure following the completion of the planned share transfer. Led by President and CEO Masahiko Ezaki, Aratas was established on July 1, 2026, through the spin-off of OMRON's Device & Module Solutions (DMS) business. It now operates within a strategic partnership with Carlyle.
For European customers, Aratas combines trust and innovation. The company continues OMRON's more than 90-year legacy, which includes decades of Japanese excellence in design and manufacturing, proven product reliability, and security of supply. The established European team remains, preserving product expertise, customer focus, regional capabilities, and distributor relationships. With its specific focus on switching, connecting, and sensing, Aratas can respond more quickly to evolving customer needs and more closely align development and investment with their priorities.
Aratas' portfolio of relays, switches, connectors, and sensors contributes to the safe and reliable operation of mission-critical systems through power switching, control, connectivity, and sensing functions. Its global growth strategy focuses on markets such as energy management, mobility, digital infrastructure, and intelligent automation. In addition to its established businesses, Aratas will explore medium- and long-term opportunities in sectors such as healthcare, aviation, and aerospace, where emerging societal needs could create new applications for its technologies.
In Europe, Aratas is implementing this strategy with a focus on key areas such as high-power electrification, grid-scale energy storage, and high-frequency domain testing, including automated test equipment (ATE) for semiconductors. The company combines product expertise, regional support, and security of supply to help original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), electronic manufacturing service providers (EMS), distributors, and other customers move more quickly from system design to qualification and production.
“European manufacturers must reconcile shorter development cycles with stricter regulations, greater sustainability demands, and increased supply chain risk,” said José Luis González del Val, Chief Operating Officer of Aratas Europe. “Component performance is only part of the answer. Reliable supply, verifiable product data, and practical support for certification and qualification are equally important. The transition to Aratas maintains this assurance while adding greater focus and agility. Together, these strengths are essential to achieving our goal of becoming the preferred partner wherever component selection directly impacts system performance, risk management, and business results.”
The name Aratas combines two Japanese words meaning "new" and "tomorrow," reflecting the company's mission to harness innovative connections between people and technology to create a new tomorrow. The values Aspire, Agile, and Ahead define how the company will pursue that mission, while the tagline Always New, Always Electric expresses its future-oriented approach.
