New solutions for outdoor lighting with CASAMBI technology

Casambi is a solution for lighting control, sensors and home automation, using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology present in all our smartphones and tablets. Free application, downloadable from Apple Store and Google Playstore. Knowing that the future lies in wireless technology, versatility and friendly and simple programming and seeing that until now the control of lighting, sensors and home automation have been carried out using the DALI, 0-10V, 1-10V protocols. , KNX, DMX, etc. requiring all of them cabling, communication bus and complex programming, we dare to say that Casambi is here to stay, thus being our future.
After the spectacular acceptance of this innovative technology in indoor lighting, OLFER electronics breaks into the outdoor lighting market by developing the new CASAMBI communication node with 0-10V or DALI2 output. The CAS-230-NEMA-DA controller allows the regulation and autonomous control of DALI devices (Drivers, electronic ballasts, etc.) in a simple way, without platforms or complex computer programs and without the need to use a concentrator or master device. The CAS-230-NEMA-010 Controller is the version with 0-10V output. Communication is established via a Bluetooth 4.0 mesh network. Each controller saves in memory the information about its configuration and also the configuration of the other controllers installed on the same network.
This gives the system great robustness and allows easy replacement of controllers without the need to program them. Configuration and control can be done from a mobile phone or tablet using the free CASAMBI APP (available for IOS and Android). Remote control of the installation is also possible through the cloud using a router or any device with the Casambi App and connected to the internet. Designed for primary use in outdoor lighting and control applications, it is provided with a UV resistant IP66 enclosure. It incorporates a hydrophobic membrane to prevent condensation inside. The connection and mechanical fixing are done on a standard NEMA socket (ANSI 136.41) by inserting and turning, without the need for tools.
Operation:
From the CASAMBI App it is possible to group the luminaires by streets, establish dimming levels depending on the time, schedule special events for particular days, etc. The communication range between controllers is 70m in open air. As it is a mesh network, the different controllers communicate with each other, until the information reaches the controller for which it is intended, even if it is located far away. During commissioning, it is enough to be located in the range of coverage of one of the controllers. Communication is endowed with security through encrypted messages. It is possible to establish different levels of access and configuration permissions. The network configuration information can be optionally stored in the CASAMBI cloud, to retrieve it in case of need. When a controller receives a firmware update, it automatically relays it to all other controllers. Each network supports up to 250 controllers.
In the same installation there can be an unlimited number of networks that can be grouped in a Site. Through the Sites we can control different networks simultaneously, each network must have internet access through a Casambi router. It has several operating modes (depending on the DALI or 0-10V version): (on/off, 0-100% regulation, circadian control, dynamic white, RGBW, etc.). It is compatible with any other device from other manufacturers, which also incorporate CASAMBI inside, CASAMBI ready products, such as luminaires, presence detectors, luminosity, relays, actuators, pushbuttons, etc. CAS-230-NEMA-DA is IoT ready. It can receive information from the associated driver or ballast (power consumption, temperature, etc.) and send it to the Casambi cloud. Access to this information for exploitation is possible through an API and JSON protocol.
Advantages compared to current technologies:
Physical installation:
The lighting control carried out using existing technologies on the market until the appearance of Casambi forces us to have to wire our entire installation, while with Casambi we do not have to modify anything. By placing a device at some point on the line of each light point or sensor, we begin to control it. Regardless of the cost of the product, for this alone it is already a cheaper solution.
Network installation:
With other technologies, the design, parameterization and configuration of the network requires experts who are familiar with the protocols. The cost of this part of the installation is in many cases higher than that of the devices. Casambi is a free application and its installation is so easy and intuitive that anyone can set up a network.
Remote connection:
Simple connection via gateway. The technologies that compete with Casambi do not provide this service or if they do it is complex and expensive.
Versatility:
We currently find Casambi devices such as the CBU-ASD model, a gateway that converts the Casambi signal to DALI or a 0-10V signal. This allows us to wirelessly control a DALI or 0-10 installation through Casambi.
Updates and improvements:
Like any modern operating system, Casambi's software is constantly updated, so we will always be up-to-date and with the possibility of evolution. The old protocols are born and die without any kind of modification.
Safety:
Communications in the Casambi network are through encrypted messages and we can configure the network itself with different levels of access and security. There are wireless control devices on the market that offer no or very low security in the communication protocol, no real guarantee, and are only compatible with luminaires or bulbs manufactured by a certain brand. Casambi is an open ecosystem that encompasses solutions and products from multiple manufacturers.
